Learn Spanish...

The goal of every Destino Abroad trip is to get students speaking and understanding Spanish as quickly as possible. Our teaching method incorporates traditional language lessons, informal learning activities, and real-life language challenges to make learning Spanish fun and worthwhile.

Laguage Lessons

Upon arrival, each student’s Spanish proficiency is assessed through written and oral placement exams. Language lessons are then organized by skill level, ranging from Primario (Beginning) to Avanzado (Advanced). With only 3 to 4 students per class, students benefit from a uniquely personalized learning experience. After completing the program, the parents of every student are provided with a written assessment of their student’s progress.

Formal language lessons are supplemented with a variety of informal activities, offering students a broadening educational experience and a great time to boot! Whether they are translating a popular Spanish song, playing Spanish Pictionary, or writing postcards in Spanish to their families at home, our students are constantly asked to put their language skills to the test.

Real-world Language Challenges

The scope of language learning continues far beyond the classroom. Each day, our students are challenged to use their Spanish conversational skills with native speakers in real-world language situations. Students soon discover how quickly language acquisition occurs when they need to order lunch in a foreign language! As they work alongside local children, bargain for souvenirs, and interview community members, our students are encouraged to apply what they learned in class to authentic language situations. It is during these meaningful interactions that some of the most valuable language learning occurs.
